Richard Grossman, PhD

Richard Grossman studied Oriental Medicine at the California Acupuncture College in Los Angeles and received his post-graduate acupuncture training in Beijing, in a course sponsored by the World Health Organization and attended by physicians from around the world. He earned a Masters in Acupuncture, a Doctor of Oriental Medicine degree, a Ph.D. in Oriental Medicine, a Diplomat in Acupuncture, a Diplomat of Pain Management, and a Diplomat in Acupuncture Orthopedics.

Dr. Richard Grossman’s fascination with healing started quite early in his life, triggered in part by a severe physical and emotional traumatic event. He is the son of a pharmacist, and was intrigued by the pharmaceutical process, especially the (rare) compounding of prescriptions that included plants. He knew early on that he wanted to study the effects of plants and medicines on the mind.

His spiritual search also started early. At age 15, he read and focussed on Asian and South Asian philosophies and shamanism. He practiced meditation on the banks of the Ganges and studied the deep connection between body, mind, and spirit. At 18, he knew that without a spiritual component, one might practice medicine, but could not practice healing.

Over the next ten years, Richard explored various forms of spiritual teachings and healing arts, continuing his studies of Asian philosophy, learning and practicing Tai Qi, massage, macrobiotics, juice fasting, yoga, aikido, and herbal medicines.

Richard’s lifelong interest in healing and spirit merged again, inspired by the power and profound beauty of ayahuasca with sound and music. He has travelled extensively in Ecuador and Peru studying with indigenous shamans in their native lands. He does healing work in ceremonial settings around the globe in a unique synthesis of traditional Amazonian shamanism, deep energetic healing, and sound healing techniques from many of the world’s cultures.

Richard has dedicated his life to healing and health, or, in the words of his younger self, to help others out of their suffering.
